Owner Ken Ferrigno started La Pizzeria on Atlantic Avenue in 1984. It was there that Ken won the Virginian-Pilot “Pizza War” with more than three times the votes of the second place finisher.
Now Ken and his crew have moved inland to the Shore Drive strip, but the formula is unchanged. They use purified water to make their famous crust and they load on fresh ingredients. Another thing that hasn’t changed is the sauce; It’s Ken’s Grandmother’s recipe and it was the nuclear option that helped win the pizza wars.
